Biography
Alan Jackson, born October 17, 1958, in Newnan, Georgia, is an American country music singer, songwriter, and musician. Known for blending traditional honky-tonk and mainstream country sounds, Jackson became one of the most successful country artists of the 1990s and 2000s. His music often reflects small-town life, love, and family values, and his smooth baritone voice and storytelling style have made him a favorite among classic country fans.
He began his recording career in the late 1980s after signing with Arista Nashville, releasing his debut album Here in the Real World in 1990. The title track became a major hit and established him as a leading figure in the “neo-traditionalist” country movement. Over the years, Jackson released numerous chart-topping albums and singles, including classics like Chattahoochee, Remember When, It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere (with Jimmy Buffett), and Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning) — the latter written in response to the September 11 attacks.
