Biography

Elon Reeve Musk, born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa, is one of the most influential and visionary entrepreneurs of the 21st century. Known for his bold ideas and relentless ambition, Musk has built a career that spans electric vehicles, space exploration, renewable energy, and artificial intelligence.

He showed curiosity and talent from an early age, teaching himself computer programming at just 10 years old. At 12, he sold a video game he coded called Blastar. After completing high school, Musk moved to Canada to attend Queen’s University and later transferred to the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned degrees in physics and economics.

In the mid-1990s, Musk dropped out of Stanford University after just two days to pursue business opportunities during the internet boom. His first major success came with Zip2, a software company that provided business directories and maps for newspapers. Compaq later acquired Zip2 for $307 million, giving Musk his first big break.

He then co-founded X.com, an online payment company that would later become PayPal after a merger. In 2002, eBay bought PayPal for $1.5 billion, and Musk used his earnings to pursue far more ambitious ventures.

That same year, he founded SpaceX with the goal of making space travel more affordable and eventually enabling life on Mars. Despite early failures, SpaceX made history in 2008 by becoming the first private company to send a spacecraft into orbit. It has since launched reusable rockets and partnered with NASA to carry astronauts to the International Space Station.

In 2004, Musk joined Tesla Motors (now Tesla, Inc.) as chairman and later became CEO. Under his leadership, Tesla transformed from a small startup into the world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer, driving the global shift toward sustainable transportation. Models like the Tesla Model S, Model 3, and Model Y became symbols of innovation and environmental progress.

Musk also founded or helped develop several other ventures, including SolarCity (renewable energy), Neuralink (brain-computer interfaces), The Boring Company (tunnel and infrastructure development), and OpenAI (artificial intelligence research). In 2022, he acquired Twitter, later rebranding it as X, with the goal of turning it into an “everything app.”

Known for his hands-on management style, futuristic ideas, and bold personality, Musk often dominates headlines. His influence extends beyond technology — he’s one of the most followed individuals on social media and a major voice in global discussions about the future of humanity, from AI ethics to space colonization.

Despite controversies surrounding his remarks and leadership style, Musk’s achievements have made him one of the most impactful innovators of modern times. His net worth has fluctuated but consistently ranks among the highest in the world.

Elon Musk continues to push boundaries in every field he enters, aiming to shape the future of technology, transportation, and civilization itself.
